Quickest Way To Lose Weight

I know this is an over simplification but the quickest way to lose weight is to stop eating. The only way you can gain weight or maintain the weight you have is through the number of calories you consume vs. how many you burn. How many starving overweight people do you see? None. Not hungry but starving. The only way you can get fat is to eat too much for the number of calories you burn. Period. If you consume 1000 calories a day and you burn or use up only 500 calories you will gain weight. Turn the numbers around and you loose weight. Keep the numbers the same and you stay the same weight.

Weight Loss Surgery

Weight loss surgery is a very quick, expensive and somewhat dangerous way to lose weight. Gastric banding is done when a surgeon places a band around the upper portion of the stomach to create a pouch to hold food, which limits the amount a person can eat. The reversible procedure is one of the two most common for weight loss, with the other being gastric bypass.

In today’s study, two years after the start the gastric banding group had lost an average of 34 kilograms (76 pounds), representing an overall average loss of 28 percent of total body weight and 79 percent of excess weight, the researchers said. In comparison, the lifestyle group lost an average of 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds), or an average of 3.1 percent total weight loss and 13 percent excess weight loss.

Food Addiction

We are addicted to eating. The big problem is many of us like to eat, for many different reasons or some simply are hungry all the time and may never feel full. Some peoples metabolisms are simply slow. We all know people who eat a lot and never gain weight.

The Trick to the Quickest Way To Lose Weight is to find a healthy diet where you can consume a lot less calories than you burn but you do not feel like you are hungry and starving all the time.

So How Do You Do That?

Everything you eat and drink have calories, but everything you do consumes calories.  Every breath, every step you take and every move you make burns calories. In fact, your body actually burns hundreds and even thousands of calories each day on its own just functioning. You could sit still all day and your body would still burn calories.

Everything you eat contains calories, and everything you do burns calories, shouldn’t they just cancel each other out? Yes, they should and they can. Look back at my first paragraph. This has been called the calorie maintenance level so I’ll use it.

Calorie Maintenance Level

The Calorie maintenance level is when you consume and burn an equal amount of calories

You Do Not Gain Weight or Lose Weight
Calories Consumed = 2500
Calories      Burned = 2500
Calories Gained or Lost = -0-

You Gain Weight When You Consume More Calories Than You Burn
Calories Consumed = 3500
Calories      Burned = 2500
Calories      Gained = 1000

You Loose Weight When You Burn More Calories Than You Consume
Calories Consumed = 2500
Calories      Burned = 3500
Calories      Lost     = 1000
When your calorie intake is above your calorie maintenance level you gain weight. When your calorie intake is below your calorie maintenance level you lose weight.

So if my maintenance level is 2500 to lose weigh fast I just eat a lot less like 1000 calories a day right?  Wrong! Here’s why you shouldn’t just start eating 1000 calories a day instead of only 2500?

Reducing your caloric intake this quickly is hazardous, harmful, bad, wrong, unhealthy. Don’t do it. Your body could go into a condition where it actually hangs onto fat and you end up losing muscle instead of fat.

This is why it is so important to reduce your calorie intake (diet) slowly as well as adding calorie burning to the equation. Combining the best exercise for weight loss with reduced calorie intake.
